A professional cross country skier is in need of sponsoring in order to stay on top as an active athlete and achieve podium places. Help is needed with travels, hotels, professional training, equipment, professional waxing service, feeding service during races, transport, etc. This usually requires financial resources on higher levels than the individual has the possibility to build beside the skiing career.
As a professional athlete financial support may be the difference between winning or loosing.
We discovered early that it was harder for female athletes to get professional support compared to their male colleagues. Only a few had financial support and sufficient service and training possibilities. Instead, they had to rely on their family and friends. We even learned that many promising female athletes decided not to attend to the long distance races because of the funds needed. Therefore, we decided to do something about it!
TEAM SkiProAm is the first professional cross country long distance team solely for females.
The season of 2013-2014 awarded TEAM SkiProAm 6 podium places in 7 races, among them Vasaloppet och Marcialonga.
The season 2014-15 is was also successful. The first podium places were achieved in the König Ludwig Lauf, where Britta won the victory, Lina came in third, Solfrid fifth, and Nina tenth place. The following week, Lina and Solfrid did a great job, winning big races at home. (Lina, Kristinaloppet and Engelbrektsloppet, Solfrid, Holmenkollmarsjen – Holmenkollen ski marathon.)
Britta has won two victories in Ica-loppet and Bessemerloppet already and Nina won the Ranrennet. So, everyones shape looks good for the rest of the races this seasons.
Now we look forward to Tjejvasan, Vasaloppet, Birkebeinern and Årefjällsloppet and surely, we will fight for the podium!
